At Akron Public Schools, we strive to create a welcoming work environment where employees feel they can bring their whole selves to their jobs. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) support this goal, giving employees a chance to connect with like-minded coworkers, engage in career development and community projects and lend their voices to district initiatives.

ERGs provide our staff members with a support system where they can network and connect with colleagues who share similar backgrounds, experiences or interests. These employee-led groups are structured to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace that aligns with the mission, vision and policies of our district.

Akron Educators for Social Justice

Provides a space for APS employees to discuss social justice issues and create opportunities for racial and cultural experiences within the district and beyond.

New and Existing Employees United

Gives new staff members a space to connect with one another, learn more about the district and find the support they need in their first few years as employees.

APS Pride

Advocates for and supports gender diversity issues within APS and the larger community by working to provide a LGBTQ+ welcoming community within the district.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGS) are an integral part of Akron Public Schools commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. We are proud to support our ERGs because they provide our staff members with opportunities to share similar interests, support one another and advance their careers.
